Video Clips - 1980s and 1990s

In the 1980s the Ki Society florished worldwide. Tohei Sensei traveled to Europe, Australia and the United States on numerous occasions. The decade culminated with the grand opening of the expansive "Ki no Sato" headquarters campus in 1990.

Koichi Tohei Sensei, 1981, Randori
This clip is part of a television show about Tohei Sensei that aired in Portland, Oregon in 1981. A television crew filmed Tohei Sensei demonstrating randori on a raised stage in a large college gymnasium. This allowed the crew to film from an unusual vantage point: ground level. The audio begins with the television host. Then Tohei Sensei describes the purpose of training in Japanese. The studio overdubbed a translation in English.

This clip was shot during a demonstration at the end of a special educator's seminar taught by Tohei Sensei in Portland, Oregon in 1981. The seminar focused on how to apply Ki principles to the education of children. The clip shows Tohei Sensei demonstrating randori. The camera view is from slightly above, giving a clear shot of all the action.

The grand opening for the Ki no Sato campus was held in 1990. As part of the festivities, Tohei Sensei supervised a short bell misogi in the large dojo.

This 10 minute TV segment aired in 1990 in Japan. It features two reporters learning the four basic principles. Also, several all-star baseball players discuss their use of Ki training in their sport. Narration is in Japanese.
